The procedure takes 5-30 minutes depending on the amount of scarring to be treated. The treatment can be performed on any area of the body with scarring caused by acne, surgeries, or injuries. You will experience a mild prickling sensation as the TCA is delivered into each scar.
Frosting of the scar will last up to 12 hours. Do not wash or apply any products other than the provided aftercare spray for 24 hours. The treated areas will be red and sensitive for up to 48 hours. After 2-3 days, small scabs and skin flaking will develop. Resist the urge to pick or peel at the skin and let it heal. You may resume normal skincare routine after 24 hours and may apply makeup if desired. Avoid strong exfoliants for 2 weeks. Sunscreen is recommended to reduce the risk of pigmentation.
With proper after care, it takes between 3-8 days to fully recover. After this time, you will be able to see the result of the treatment.
This depends on the severity of the scarring. Minor cases may only need one treatment, whereas more severe cases may need up to 6 treatments. It is recommended to space treatments out by 2-4 weeks.
No, you should only have TCA CROSS performed by a professional certified with the training to do so. Otherwise there is a strong likelihood you will cause severe permanent scarring to yourself.
